hypnobirthing childbirth preparation

I have found that HypnoBirthing is one of the best ways to prepare for a relaxed, gentler, healthier and more comfortable birth.

I teach individual HypnoBirthing and yoga based childbirth preparation classes that can be personally tailored to suit your own needs.  Perfect for second/third time parents, those who have specific issues/fears regarding birth, those with scheduling limitations that would opt you out of other classes, or those that would just prefer to do their prep in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.  I often do private sessions with my doula clients, combining the classes with our prenatal visits.  Please call or email me to schedule or for more info about private sessions.

"My birth experience was incredible. It actually happened in nearly exactly the way I envisioned it should, though I never could have imagined the steps that would get us there. My team of support, Sergio, Britt, my mother, the nurses and midwife were outstanding, and I could never have persevered without them. In the end, though, I think about something Britt said afterwards that may have been the most important factor. As we prepared for the birth, we made a concerted effort to focus on what we did want, rather than what we didn’t want. Alexandra’s birth ended up being a manifestation of our dreams and visions for that day in part because we worked and planned for it to be that way. My best advice for prospective parents is just that: develop for yourselves a positive, concrete and realistic vision of the birthday of your child. Prepare however you must (with classes, exercise, or whatever else) so that this birthday is possible. When the day comes, you will have a much easier time acting out this positive vision than if you had only focused energy on how you didn’t want the day to end up. I had a wonderful, powerful birth experience surrounded by so much love and support; I wish more women could experience birth this way. "

"Becoming a parent has made me keenly aware that I am an animal.     While in labor, my brain did not help much.  My body-the animal of me-knew what to do and when my mind released, my body released.  I definitely was able to do much more than I believed I could do.  I think it is pretty difficult for the mind to imagine giving birth and thus it was easy to begin to question whether or not I could actually do this:  am I strong enough?  Relaxed enough?  Fast enough?  But I was.  I imagine what a second birth would be like when I already know that I can do it.  To have been in such a purely physical state and see what my body can do has given me more confidence to trust my instincts and gut emotions.  My experiences in yoga, HypnoBirthing and meditation during pregnancy have helped me to understand how my thoughts impact how I feel and be able to live a more aware life.  These have been great gifts."
